went for a swim in the rain today, probably the best day at the beach i’ve had the whole time we’ve been here…choppy green waves and a dark purple sky. the storm got kind of crazy so we left but it was pretty fuckin great. today reminded me why i love the ocean so much.

Brand new colony (by PETER ZÉGLIS)

considering a “wave of mutilation” tattoo. i was always gonna get something ocean-related, (probably a fucking wave, finger waves would be sick), because whenever i go to a place with an ocean, i feel so peaceful and at home and okay alone. aquatic life is also the most colourful and beautiful on earth, in my opinion.

wave of mutilation is a song by the pixies, a strange-ass band that has quickly become one of my favourites. i got to see them this year and it was crazy awesome. the singer has said that the song is about “Japanese businessmen doing murder-suicides with their families because they’d failed in business, and they’re driving off a pier into the ocean”. apparently the song also references a beach boys song which references charles manson which is just an interesting connection. this is one of a few pixies songs that i’ve always connected with.

so i think i’ll get it.
